The families of the Chile’s coastal village of Coliumo form a community
based on fishing activity. This village was hardly hit by the earthquake
and the tsunami on February 27th, 2010. In this community there is a Union
of 40 female fishers and their families. Among them, 21 lost their
belongings – their houses- but also their boats and nets. Children and
elderly are sleeping temporarily in a precarious seaweed shed of the
Union. These families need an urgent aid to rebuild houses and buy fishing
material to restart their economic activity for the needs of their
families.
